All About Dr. Silpa!

I grew up in Florida, where I developed a fascination for veterinary medicine. I received my veterinary degree from University of Edinburgh in Scotland. I then worked for 1 year as an emergency veterinarian at night, and during the day I was a volunteer veterinarian for a charity that rescued stranded dolphins and whales. Following that, I worked as a zoo veterinarian at the Miami Seaquarium. I am interested in exotic medicine because of their unique physiology. For example, with birds there are hundreds of species kept as pets, and they all have their unique quirks. We are learning leaps and bounds about these species every year, and being on the front lines of this frontier medicine invigorates me. I am excited to join the Mesa Veterinary Clinic and Hooves N Paws team! I am currently working towards specialty recognition with the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) in reptile and amphibian medicine. I am a proud member of the Association of Avian Veterinarians, Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians, and the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians. I am happy to see all creatures, from alligators to zebras, at Mesa Veterinary Clinic and Paws N Hooves Mobile Veterinary Services.
