Thanksgiving is a time to cherish family, which includes pets to all of us animal lovers. Although there are many reasons to celebrate, there are also many ways to keep your pets away from the dinner table.
Most pets know how to get humans wrapped around our fingers. They just sit next to the table or kitchen giving us those sweet big eyes. You know it will just make their day to give them just a little bit of what they are asking for. The problem is that you are probably not the only person to have that idea. Many of our rich Thanksgiving indulgences wreak havoc on your pets internally.
What to not give your pet:
- Turkey skin
- Turkey drippings
- Turkey twine
- Turkey bones
- Corn on the cob
- Mushrooms
- Raisins
- Grapes
- Sage
- Fat trimmings
- Bread dough
- Onions
- Garlic
- Nuts
- nutmeg
- Chocolate
- alcohol
As you already know our pets can be very clever. Even if we don’t give into the temptation to share our food with them they can sometimes find a way to get to it themselves. Always take out the trash within a timely manner to avoid any temptations to from your pets.
Symptoms to look out for are vomiting, abdominal pain, fever, weakness, and lethargy or tired. If you want to enjoy your Thanksgiving with your four-legged loved ones and stay clear from visiting us with an emergency situation please avoid sharing your meal with your pet.
